2. A postdoctoral position is available for a recent Ph.D. graduate to join the Contet laboratory at The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, CA) and study the neurobiological mechanisms of alcohol dependence. Our group investigates the proteins and neural circuits that are dysregulated by chronic alcohol exposure and their contribution to excessive drinking and other symptoms of alcohol dependence. We are looking for a candidate with strong expertise in molecular biology and histology techniques to analyze mouse brain samples for molecular quantification, cellular phenotyping and neurotracing. Additional experience with fiber photometry, microendoscopic imaging or adult brain cell sorting would be a major advantage. We are expecting a high degree of self-motivation,
meticulousness, critical thinking, efficient communication and utmost research integrity.
Sincerely,
Ghazaleh, Courtney, Yas, and Yangmiao
The local scientific
environment is optimal for young scientists to thrive. The Contet laboratory is
part of TSRI Department of Neuroscience, Pearson Center for Alcoholism and
Addiction Research, TSRI Alcohol Research Center, and TSRI
Neuropsychopharmacology Training Program, which provide unique opportunities
for multidisciplinary collaborations and outstanding resources for integrative
training in the alcohol/drug addiction field.
This position offers
standard NIH salary levels and competitive health insurance from TSRI. US
citizenship or permanent residence is required for appointment to our
NIH-funded Institutional Training Grant. Individuals from underrepresented
racial and ethnic groups are encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates
should send their application material (CV, cover letter and contact
information for three references) to Dr. Candice Contet (contet@scripps.edu).
Sincerely,
Ghazaleh, Courtney, Yas, and Yangmiao
